Dr. Melvin Stern specializes in treating patients with depressive, phobic, anxiety, obsessive compulsive and personality disorders. He uses a wide array of techniques including medication management, individual, group and couples psychotherapy cognitive behavioral interventions.
Dr. Stern is nationally known for his research and treatment of patients with heart disease and other medical problems. He also serves as a Board member of the American Group Psychotherapy Association where he co-chaired the Institute Committee for four years. He has been a featured speaker throughout the U.S. on the technique and uses of group psychotherapy with different patient populations and conditions.
His recent interests have been in the field of geriatric psychiatry. He consults with staff and patients in long term care facilities and is CEO and Medical Director of Geriatric Mental Health Systems, Inc.
